God is Working!
In one of my, if not the first, blogs I wrote about wanting to reach out and connect with other people. When I would talk to God, I would ask Him to use Abigail's cleft as a positive in our lives. I find it easy to focus on the negatives of everything that has already happened and is going to happen. So, trying to focus my energy and prayer on positive things has already started to work. I have asked God to use us as comfort for other's that would be touched by birth defects. I think God heard that and said, "Wait a second, I understand that you want to comfort others, but let's stand back and let me have others comfort you first." So, not only has God answered the prayers of connecting with other people, but He has thrown my own prayer right back on us and allowed us to be comforted by other families that are going through, or have already gone through, the process of raising a child with a cleft. This is just one simple example of how God works. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, and mostly Heather and I thank God for answering those prayers. I am just so excited.

Congratulations on your little one to be. After going through cleft repairs with Jackson, this time around seems like a breeze. we've always felt on a scale of possible birth defects we've felt extremely blessed that it's only been a cleft. Nothing permanent or worse. Psalm 139:13-16 has been my verses of choice through this time. I find comfort in them and in Proverbs 3:5,6. And Jeremiah 29:11. I guess my list could go on and on.:) Again, congrats!
You will be more than amazed at what your little one while teach you and all that you have to learn about strength, faith, and perserverance. I feel blessed that God thought our family was special enough to be given such an amazing baby girl that is more special than I could ever imagine.
Hi! Just passing by to wish you all the best!
Hi! just passing by to wish you all the best!
my husband and i just found out today at our 18 week ultrasound appt that our baby has a cleft lip and palate. it's been a hard morning trying to hold on to faith and believe that everything will be alright. i'm already thankful to have come across your blog and others as well as we begin to prepare for our journey. we do believe that God is in control and He will be with us all the way.
Hi,
I just came across your blog and it is beautiful how you are reaching out to so many people even before your little baby has made her appearance!
My name is Anna and I have 2 little boys, both whom were born with clefts. It's been a journey, and hard at times, but I wouldn't change anything for the ways in which our hearts have been opened.
Good luck with everything.
And do you know about cleftadvocate.org and widesmiles.org. Those are EXCELLENT resources. There are email groups you can join on there and they have been so helpful to our family, and it makes it so easy to connect with other families who are going through very similar circumstances with the cleft.
Oh, and here is my blog, if you want to see my cute boys: www.fowlerfam.blogspot.com
