We got a phone call from Abigail's scheduler and she told us that Abby is first to go on the 19th. Her surgery will begin at 8Am and will last about three hours. Again the feelings of a bitter sweet feeling have come. Abby has really taken to eating solid foods and now we have to have to go back to a liquid diet for two weeks. Overall, we are more excited than anything. After this surgery we will be done for a few years. Furthermore, we should be done with inpatient surgeries. Everything after Tuesday will be touch-ups and a couple of reconstructions, which are not as major.
We feel so blessed. The support we have from everyone and the God we trust in to watch over us is more than we could ever ask for. Abby is such a great baby and a great joy to be around. We really thank God for everything he has given us.
Abby did turn 1 year old on Saturday, May 9th? I am sorry we do not have the pictures off of our camera yet, but I plan on doing that this weekend. I will have them posted shortly. We are also sorry for not posting in the last few months. I have been out of the country and Heather has been trying to keep the house on the ground. We really appreciate every ones help while I was gone. Aunt Sue and Papa really saved our behinds with watching the kids, so thank you for that.
More will come this weekend, and I will leave you with a message from Abigail,

Abby and the entire family will be in my prayers on Tues. That bitter sweet feeling about surgery is hard to deal with sometimes. Knowing you are doing what is best for them but knowing it is going to hurt. And now for a well wish to Abby from my little Aiden, 14 months old, vjiauzsjdfgjvnjdfjfjdfjfooooooooooooooxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Happy belated b-day Abby! We will be praying for a successful surgery and a quick recovery!
Thinking of you all as you prepare for the big day ahead. Everything will be just fine, and as for the pureed foods....whatever we ate....we pureed in the blender. Yes, looked gross...but Reid loved "real" food, too...and this was the only way I could give him that "real" food taste and give him the nutrients as well. He was on pureed foods for 5 weeks, and he did just fine. I will also tell you, our surgeon told us the surgery for Reid would be about 5 hours or so.....it took 7 1/2. Now, our surgeon is MATICULOUS and VERY PRECISE....so that may have something to do with it, but I just wanted to give you a heads up. Reid did awesome with his recovery and was truly only sore for a couple days. I pray for Abby's successful day....and successful recovery....and we will be thinking of you all this week! Do take care!!!!
Being 2000 miles away is not where I want to be today, but prayers and positve thoughts are always around you guys. i can't imagine the stress you guys are under having to hand Abby over to the hospital staff and sit and wait. Abby will be held by a special angel the whole time she is having surgery, so put your faith in knowing that she is a special little girl who is teaching us all a lesson regarding trust, faith and endless love. I will be with you in spirit Heather with all the love a mother feels for her child. That never changes, no matter how old you are.
I love you and God bless Abby, Colton Heather and Pete during this time and always.
